The NAIA No. 2 ranked Shawnee State men's cross country team ran a spectacular race as nine runners ran in the top 10. The Bears blew the competition away as they amassed a perfect score of 15 to take home their first regular season championship and win the Mid-South Conference in their inaugural. Georgetown College finished second with 64 points.
The Bears dominated the race from the beginning. Senior Keegan Rathkamp (Chillicothe, OH) led the Bears as he finished in a course record time of 25:06. Sophomore Galen Dills (Chillicothe, OH) finished second in a time of 25:13, while senior Michael Owen (Reedsville, OH) finished third in a time of 25:26. Rio Grande's Nick Wilson broke up the Bears' scoring as he placed sixth in a time 25:42. Rounding out the Bears scoring were senior Chuck Wentz (Proctorville, OH) and freshman Blake Wysocki (Toledo, OH). Wentz completed the 8,000 in a time of 26:06, while Wysocki posted a time of 26:25. Junior Reece Brown (Lucasville, OH) and freshman Adam Schroeder (Shelby, OH) also place in the top 10 with times of 26:39 and 26:42.
Shawnee State top nine runners earned Mid-South Conference recognition.
