The fifth annual Steven Hunter Hope Fund Tennis Tournament will be help the weekend of September 10th and 11th. The tournament is held to help raise money for the Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund and its activities.
The tournament will be played at the Steven A Hunter Tennis Center at PHS Clark Athletic Complex on Eighth Street and the William Daehler Tennis Center at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth.
This years tournament will honor Courtney Clifford, a long time friend of the Hunter family.
"Courtney and Steven were friends. Anytime she would call and ask Steven if he wanted to play, it did not matter what he was doing he would fly out that door and go play," Mark Hunter, Steven's dad said. "Courtney was an amazing young lady and she was an extremely talented tennis player. So, doing this for her was a no brainer for us."
According to released information, the Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund provides clothing, shoes, field trip/excursion fees, dental & vision exams, scholarship assistance, and many other goods and services through the endowment fund at the Scioto Foundation. The Steven A Hunter Hope Fund, Inc. provides fund raising activities and provides additional services directly including Stevens Power Pack Program. Stevens Power Pack provides food on the weekends for hungry children in Portsmouth & New Boston Elementary Schools.
The entry fee for the tournament is $25, registration forms can be found at www.stevenshopefund.org.
The tournament will feature a round robin format with Mens and Womens Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Trophies will be awarded the champions in different age and flight categories. Participants will receive a tee shirt.
