The F0 tornado that ripped through Otway left a lot of damage and collapsed the Otway Volunteer Fire Department storage building and damaged several homes and public buildings. The Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities (DD) has scheduled a fundraiser for the fire department on Monday at The Lunch Box Deli, located inside STAR Inc.
“We always look for ways for the folks we serve can be more integrated into the community. Fire Departments are a big part of protecting the communities across Scioto County. It’s rare that something like this happens and we want to be a part of helping to build it back,” said Kelly Hunter, director of STAR Inc. “We thought the deli would be a good avenue to host a fundraiser.”
The menu includes homemade chicken & noodles, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, roll and a brownie for $3.50.
“We’ll be taking vans out delivering meals that day to people throughout the county,” Hunter said.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Otway Fire Department.
MedFlight & HealthNet recently held Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser to benefit the department.
“Healthnet and Medflight share a helicopter based in Lucasville. MedFlight has served the Scioto County area for over 25 years now. Healthnet4/MedFlight7 has been in Scioto County for 5 years. Both are large companies and are in a position to help other services,” said. Amanda Ball, Outreach Coordinator for MedFlight
The event raised $6,116 that was donated to the department. Several hundred were reportedly in attendance.
