Janet Louise Smith Beekman age 86 of Wheelersburg died January 26, 2013 at her residence. Surviving is her husband, William C. (Bill) Beekman, four children, Patty Jo (Jodi) Beekman of Apache Junction, Arizona, Gwen (Dave) Delabar of Wheelersburg, Dan (Ruth) Beekman of Wheelersburg and Dennis (Julie) Beekman of Flatwoods, Kentucky, one brother, Lester Smith, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services were held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Saint John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Karl Beck officiating.
Dorothy Eleanor Goodman, 86, of Portsmouth, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at Hillview Retirement Center. Surviving are a daughter Barbara (Andy) Glockner of Portsmouth, two sons Daniel Goodman of Portsmouth and Mark Goodman of Roanoke,Virginia eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, one brother Charles Eckstein of Portsmouth and two sisters Pauline Appeldorn of Ashland, Ky. Cecilia Gallagher. Services were held Thursday January 30, 2013 at St Mary Catholic Church with Rev Adam Streitenberger officiating.
Emily Sue Law Gullett, (Maw), 78 of New Boston died Jan. 28, 2013 at SOMC. She is survived by her sister, Betty Jones of Blacklick, OH.; a brother, Joe Jones of Heath, OH.; sons, Chuck and Greg Law of New Boston; son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Janet Law of New Boston; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and James Kerns Jr. of Franklin Furnace; granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Services were Friday Feb. 1, 2013 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Paul Holbrook officiating.
Phillip Gene Hollis, 76, of Portsmouth, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Surviving are a brother, Glen (Bonnie) Hollis of Camp Bennett and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Services were held Thursday at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Clint Sheets II officiating.

Monty J. Hughes, 52, of Wheelersburg died Wednesday Jan. 23, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident. He is survived by a brother, Jeff Hughes of Portsmouth and a sister, JoLinda Lyon of Wadsworth. Private services will be at the conviencence of the family. Arrangements being handled by D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston.
Arnold Luther, 49 of Portsmouth died Jan.29, 2013 at home. He is survived by his Mother, Mary R. Scott, a son Michael Luther, sisters, Mary F. Luther, Angela Rawlins and Crystal Buckler all of Portsmouth. Brother, Roger Luther and wife Gina of Lucasville; brother-in-laws, Clay Rawlins and Jhonnie Buckler and several relatives, friends, neices and nephews.Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at D.W.SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON. Gerald Jerry Ray Riley, 66 of Franklin Furnace died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. Surviving are his wife, Anita Wooten Riley, two sons, Gerald Jerry Ray Riley, Jr. and Justin Taylor Riley, three daughters, Jeannie Norris, Courtney Clinage and Leatha Nacole Riley, seven brothers, Rodney Holsinger, Clifford Riley, Joe Riley, John David Riley, Rick Riley, Ora Fetty and Charles Fetty, Jr., seven sisters, Barbara Ann Delong, Sharon Pace, Linda Montgomery, Johnna Kay Stapleton, Gloria Fetty, Sandy Crawford and Teresa Fetty six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a Mom, Betty Riley and Mother and Father-in-Law, Mary and James Wooten. Services were held Tuesday, January 28, 2013 at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Blevins officiating.
Ronald Russell Ruse, 80, of Franklin Furnace, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at his residence. Surviving are his wife Bonnie Blizzard Karshner Ruse his children David (Wendy) Karshner of Hilliard , Ohio and Mary (Eddie) Karshner Smith of Keystone Heights, Florida; his grandchildren and one sister Judy (Joe) McNeece of Greenville, South Carolina. Services were Saturday February 2, 2013 at Melcher Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Blevins officiating.
Patsy Ruth Sparks-Salsbury, 83, formerly from Rigrish Addition in Sciotoville, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Vineyards of Concord in Frankfort. Surviving are two sons, Michael Sparks of Frankfort and Robert (Laura) Sparks of Carroll; a daughter, Linda (Everett) Virgin of Frankfort; a sister, Peggy Cree of Capac, Michigan, and her grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Jack Williams and David Frazie, ministers, officiating.
Betty Spaulding died, Sunday, January 20, 2013. She is survived by three daughters: Sharon and husband Gary Heimbach of Wheelersburg, Diana Spaulding of Portsmouth, and Betty and husband John Kramer of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Cletus Pack of Wheelersburg, Bert Pack and wife Sue of Rock Springs, Georgia, Ron Pack and wife Betty of Wheelersburg, and one sister, Linda Pack of Wheelersburg. Services were held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Rev. Gary Heimbach II officiating.
