Governor John Kasich has appointed Scott R. Williams, of Dublin, to the Shawnee State University Board of Trustees for a nine-year term beginning May 3 and ending June 30, 2021.

Williams is director of governmental affairs with the Ohio Association of Realtors, a position he has held for the past ten years. A native of Adams County, Williams says that he is looking forward to being a part of the future of Shawnee State University.

“Being from this region, I know what Shawnee State University means to the people here and to our communities,” Williams said. “I hope to be able to bring some value to the institution moving forward.”

Williams has served as director of state legislative affairs for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, director of government relations for the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association and legislative aide for State Senator Doug White and State Representative Robert Corbin.

“We serve a unique mission of open access to higher education for students in our state, particularly Appalachia,” Dr. Rita Rice Morris, SSU President, said. “Scott has a clear understanding of our role in the community and is a good addition to our Board of Trustees. We look forward to working closely with him over the next several years.”

Williams is a graduate of Ohio University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration with specialization in Policy and Fiscal Analysis.
