District 9 Weekly Travel Report
For the week ending October 4, 2013: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. A pavement marking project is under way, and crews will be applying pavement markings at various locations throughout the district’s eight-county region. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers and/or arrow boards when crews are at work. The project is anticipated to be completed by late fall. (#13-0283)
A paving and culvert replacement project continues in Shawnee State Forest. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers with the exception of intermittent periods of closure when traffic will be detoured locally. The project is anticipated to be completed by late summer. (#13-0144)
U.S. 52 is reduced to one, 11-foot lane in each direction between T.R. 569 (Old U.S. 52) near the S.R. 239 interchange and the Scioto River bridges at the Portsmouth corporation limit for a major rehabilitation project. The project work limits also include portions of S.R. 73, S.R. 239 and S.R. 852. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane in each direction, and ramps will be reduced to 10-foot lanes. The project is anticipated to be completed in early fall 2014. As part of the U.S. 52 rehabilitation project, the exit ramp (Ramp A) from U.S. 52 East to S.R. 852 (Carl Perkins Bridge) is closed for bridge repair. The closure will be in effect through mid-October, and while the ramp is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 239 to S.R. 73/104 at West Portsmouth.
As part of a resurfacing project, S.R. 522 is reduced to one, 12-foot lane at the U.S. 52 overpass for bridge repair, and traffic will maintained with the use of temporary traffic signals. Crews will also be paving the route between U.S. 52 and the Lawrence County line, with traffic maintained in one lane with flaggers when crews are at work. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid to late fall. (#13-0162)
