As part of SSU’s Homecoming Weekend, rising comedian Joe Zimmerman will take the stage at the Eloise C. Smith Theater at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.
In addition to performing at a variety of theaters/clubs, colleges and benefit shows, he has appeared at countless comedy festivals, adding to a résumé which includes numerous television appearances.
In addition to making his Comedy Central debut on John Oliver’s “New York Stand Up Show,” Zimmerman made his late night debut on “The Late Late Show” with Craig Ferguson, and performed on Nickelodeon’s “NickMom Night Out.”
He also appeared on the nationally syndicated “Bob & Tom Show” and was chosen as one of the acclaimed “New Faces at Just For Laughs Montreal” where he was positively reviewed by the “The Spit Take” and “Time Out NY.”
Zimmerman was a finalist in the “Laughing Skull” festival in Atlanta and the “Laughing Devil” festival in New York and he was a semi-finalist in the Andy Kaufman awards
Buzzfeed named him one of the top 14 comedians you should be paying attention to saying that “the combination of Joe’s calming vocalization and inventive writing is a thing of magic” and “you’d be hard pressed to find a more enjoyable show.”
Praised for an accessible style pairing absurdism with a wide-eyed, aw-shucks demeanor, Zimmerman has been personally selected by Ricky Gervais as a Conan contest finalist, and can be heard regularly on SiriusXM and Pandora.
Tickets to see Zimmerman are $8 per person and $2 for SSU students with valid ID and available to the public at the McKinley Box Office, open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, located in the grand lobby of the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts at SSU. Tickets may also be purchased by phone at (740) 351-3600.
