At approximately at 2:29 a.m. Friday morning, Frank & Stein’s Lounge, at 707 Chillicothe Street, was robbed at gunpoint. According to the Portsmouth Police Department, a white male with a covered face entered the bar and demanded that the bartender give him the contents of the register.
After he received the money, he fled the scene before anyone could see him. Patrons of the bar were in the enclosed yard at the time of the robbery and were not witnesses to the actual robbing. The investigation is ongoing and a total loss has yet to be figured.
Owner Scott Frasure said that he believes the loss is around $1,200.
Frasure was quick to respond to the incident, showing up around the same time the officers arrived.
Frasure said that the robbery comes as a shock to him, since he has owned the bar for 26 years and this instance makes only the second time that he has had an issue with robbery. The last attempt was many years ago and Frasure doesn’t want anyone to think the bar has a reputation for this type of occurrences.
