Shawnee State University (SSU) presented One Home Team Award and two Hall of Fame inductions at a brunch on Saturday, Jan. 23 Homecoming Weekend in the University Center Sodexo Ballroom East.

SSU Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Center Director Jeff Hamilton presented alumnus Eugene Collins the Ralph Kavanaugh Home Team Award. Collins played basketball from 1984 to 1986 and was assistant head coach from 1990 to 2007.

Hamilton also talked about Hall of Fame inductee Tiffany Clayton who was unable to attend the brunch.

Clayton, who played basketball from 1991 to 1995, holds five records at SSU, including a three-point field goal made in a game with eight, three-point field goal attempts in a game with a 14 three-point career goal percentage at 39.7 percent, a three-point season field goal percentage at 46 percent and 566 career assists.

She ranks 19 on the all-time scoring record with 1,050 points. Clayton earned All MOC recognition in 1995.

Hall of Fame inductee John Williams was a cross country champion at SSU from 2000 to 2003. He is a two-time All-American Mideast Conference runner and two-time NAIA National Qualifier. During his time a SSU, he held the fastest time of any runner (25:45) and he is among the top five runners ever at Shawnee State and 13th on the all-time fastest time list. He was a five-time meet medalist during his career at SSU.

Each year since 2000, inductees are chosen for the SSU Hall of Fame during Homecoming Weekend.
