“Your Spoken Word”

Marcia Harris

Be careful what you ask for. Be careful what you speak. Please don’t underestimate the power of your mind. Why, you ask? Your brain is your amazing resource. As you speak your desires, your brain immediately goes to work creatively connecting images from your memory to form a mental plan of action including how, when, where, why, and who is involved.

Your memories are often triggered or recalled by emotional events that include passion, excitement, pain, sadness and many others. With these memories often come your spoken word expressing your feelings during those moments.

Studies show that music is often attached with our memories as it carries many words expressing your emotions and desires at the time. The words of the song often speak for you creating a vivid image of that event. I wonder did the words of the music prompt you to action?

Dr Ben Carson stated that if you were to learn a new fact every three (3) seconds, it would take three (3) million years to fill the capacity of your brain. Imagine that! We have so much room for improvement!

As you state, “ I wish I could….One day I am going to…..I promise that I will…… I will never…I doubt it…… I can’t”….you may be opening doors of opportunities for growth or you may be allowing your negative words to place limits on your life by closing doors.

Take a moment, right here, right now, to think back on the memory of your spoken words in different life situations. I wonder how far your spoken words has taken you? Do you see a pattern of the results? Were you going forward and backward in life with relationships? If you could do it all over again, what would you speak differently? Keep in mind, the energy you send out will return to you as an opportunity or a closed door.

In closing, remember the power of your spoken word, remember the capacity of your brain for great improvement, and remember to take a moment to think before you speak!

As you are confronted with challenging times, remember it takes a stronger person to stop and react with silence. It takes a much stronger person to “first, seek to understand before being understood”.

I challenge you to this month to make wise decisions with your spoken words to open doors of opportunity for yourself and those you are interacting with it.

Have a great month of change!
