The work and dedication of Jim Haas, of Shawnee Family Health Center were recently honored at a surprise retirement party. Haas, the Scioto County Clinic Director, announced his retirement after a 37 ½ years career at Shawnee. He began his career with Shawnee in 1979 and over the years had been instrumental in the growth of the community support program and led the supported employment program to be one of the most successful in the region.
Jim previously served as the Lawrence County Clinic Director for several years and for a short time directed the clinics Crisis Unit, Hotline and on call program . He was the first Community Support Director for adult clients in the State of Ohio and also served in that capacity for many years.
Shawnee Family Health Center, Inc. (formerly known as Shawnee Mental Health Center) is a private, non-profit comprehensive mental health center that has been serving the residents of Adams, Lawrence and Scioto counties since 1973. Primary care was added in all three counties in 2009.
Jim stated “I would like to thank all of the competent and capable staff I have worked with over the years. I have enjoyed serving the people of our three county area. I found it particularly satisfying to watch the growth of our Vocational Program that has helped provide employment for many people in our area. I have also enjoyed the growth of our agency from not only serving Behavioral Health clients, but also Primary Health care patients.
He will be continuing to stay active in the community by serving on the Children’s Services Board of Directors.
