Private Foundation Established to Support Ky. State Police

A nonprofit foundation benefiting the Kentucky State Police, was established in November of 2015. The mission of the Kentucky State Police Foundation (KSPF) is to support the agency, its employees and families of those officers who have died in the line of duty.

Luther Deaton, Jr., chief executive officer of Central Bank, was elected president of the foundation. Deaton said he looks forward to representing an organization that will support Kentucky State Police employees.

“I am honored to serve in the capacity as President of the Foundation,” says Deaton.

Other board members include: Connie Hale, Keeneland Assn., Inc.; Stewart Perry, State Farm Insurance Co.; Andrea Hayes, Commonwealth Credit Union; Regina Stivers, Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet; Tammy York-Day, Delta Dental of Kentucky; Ted Bassett, Keeneland Assn., Inc. and Tyler Adkins, Fowler Bell, LLC.

Hale was elected treasurer/secretary and Adkins is serving as counsel for the foundation.

Through the financial support of public and corporate partnerships, the foundation will be able to provide necessary equipment, training and other resources when normal funding streams are not available. The foundation is committed to the continued operation and success of Trooper Island Camp and recently facilitated a donation of $100,000 for the construction of a medical and dental screening facility at the camp.

KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer welcomed the formation of the foundation and says it will impact the agency personnel for years to come.

“The foundation is already providing dividends for KSP through the Trooper Island Camp construction project,” says Brewer. “We look forward to working with this organization and partnering with them to enhance our agency and its employees.”

The foundation is in the process of developing a new website at www.KSPfoundation.org
