2013 Kinniconick Autumnfest
Looking for a fun family activity to do on the first weekend in October? If so, you are in luck! The 2013 Kinniconick Autumnfest will be held on October 5th and 6th. Admission, parking, and entertainment is FREE of charge. This year’s festival is on track to be bigger and better than ever before, with over 30 vendors scheduled to attend!
One of the main attractions of the Autumnfest is sorghum. The Hall family has raised another great crop of sorghum that is still ripening in the fields. In just a few days the cane will be transformed into the rich, delicious sorghum that many have come to expect at the Autumnfest. Sorghum is nature’s natural sweetener that was used for many years in place of sugar. If you have never tried fresh warm sorghum, then you definitely need stop by for a taste and to see firsthand how it is made.
We are always on the lookout for new vendors of handmade crafts and individuals who can demonstrate unique skills. If you or your group/organization needs more information, please contact us. We would love to have you join our festival. Setup is free, but you do need to call to reserve your spot. Please call 606-757-4808 or 606-757-3574 if you would like to setup.
The activities will begin around 10 A.M. on Saturday, October 5th & 6th on Rt. 1306 off the AA Highway just outside of Garrison, Kentucky. Some of the planned events for this year’s festival include: horse drawn sorghum making, apple butter being made the traditional way in the large copper pot, a greased pig chase, a fireman tug of war, pony rides, and a petting zoo. Local talent, including many singers and the AA Cloggers are scheduled to perform on stage. While at the festival, enjoy some great food and watch the kids play some old fashioned games. Bring a lawn chair and your camera and enjoy spending time with your neighbors and making new friends.
