St. Peter’s Over 55 Club met Monday, September 9, 2013, with a covered dish dinner served to 16 persons in attendance. Fr. Joe Yokum offered the blessing before the meal John Pendland, president, led pledge of allegiance to the flag and conducted the business meeting.

The secretary’s report was read and approved. Valerie Gill, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report which was approved.

Kaye Inoshita, representative from Area Agency on Aging District 7, spoke on several programs and services available in 10 counties in Ohio, including Scioto County, that enables older adults to live in their homes and communities. Assistance and options counseling for those who wish to learn more about the services and programs provided thru the AAA7 network include assisted living waiver, care coordination, caregiver support, and health and wellness programs, for information call 1-800-582-7277.

Andy Pierron, from the Counseling Center, also spoke on ways we can assist our elders, and if necessary, the illegal use of money or property of a senior or disabled adult for another’s profit, seek help or call for advice as to how to proceed in any situation.

The Alzheimer’s Assoc. is still offering a series of programs at Best Care Nursing Home, the last two sessions being Oct. 8, “Safety Considerations”, and Dec. 10 on “Activities and Interation.” Both programs are free of charge, held 2:00 PM till 3:30 PM. Call Best Care, 740-574-2558, as light refreshments will be served.

After awarding of door prizes were awarded, the meeting adjourned.
