Scioto County’s Habitat for Humanity announces the Fifth Annual Volunteer Recognition and Open House event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the new Habitat office, 830 Murray Street in the Sole Choice building on the Gallia Street side.

“We are all very excited to show our new office area to the community,” said Ginnie Moore, vice president of the Scioto County Habitat for Humanity.

The organization will be honoring outstanding volunteers and celebrating the new office location.

Scioto County Habitat for Humanity is a faith-based housing program dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing by building homes in partnership with families in need.

Simple, decent, and affordable houses are built that provide interest-free mortgages to families who would otherwise not be able to purchase their own home. The Habitat program is about home ownership and providing a long-term solution designed to break the poverty cycle.

Scioto County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, charitable, all volunteer organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing by providing a “hands-up” partnership opportunity for low-income, working families to become self-sufficient homeowners.

“We have built eleven homes for families in Scioto County and are currently raising funds and recruiting volunteers to begin work on a new home in the very near future,” said Paul White, president of Scioto County Habitat for Humanity.

As a fundraiser, the organization is raffling a quilt. Raffle tickets may be purchased from any Habitat Board member. The winning ticket will be drawn at the December Habitat Board Meeting.

To RSVP for the Volunteer Recognition and Open House event or for more information, contact the Habitat office at 740-353-4993 or e-mail SciotoHabitat@gmail.com.
