Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund Opened at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio
Fund celebrates the Orchestra’s 40th anniversary
Nelsonville, OH – The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra has a lot to celebrate. This year marks the orchestra’s 40th anniversary. And in honor of this milestone, the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund was established at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio to support the Orchestra’s mission for many more years to come.
“We are so excited about the fund and grateful to the anonymous donor who wanted to celebrate our anniversary this way,” said Music Director Laura Schumann. “This Fund will forever provide support to the Orchestra. I can’t tell you what a blessing that is to us.”
Founded in 1974, the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra is a semi-professional community orchestra and operates in partnership with Muskingum University. The Orchestra performs five concerts each season, including a free Holiday Pops concert as a gift to the community. Additionally, the Orchestra holds a children’s concert each year, where orchestra members introduce orchestral instruments and music to children and their families. In addition to these concerts, the Orchestra ensembles and guest artists provide educational outreach to schools and the community.
The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra held its first concert of the season on October 27. The Orchestra’s next performance will be their free Holiday Pops Concert on December 5 at 7 PM at the Secrest Auditorium in Zanesville.
