In an exclusive interview with the Daily Times local small business owner Sean Boldman said he intends to file paperwork on Tuesday to be a republican candidate for Scioto County Commissioner in the primary.
Boldman said he has been a lifelong resident of Scioto County and a Shawnee State University graduate.
When asked why he wants to be commissioner Boldman said, “we want to highlight the positive influences we have in this community, job creation and small businesses.”
Once the necessary paperwork is complete Boldman will join four other republicans who are seeking the party nomination. Others include, Steven Wilton Mault, Mark Ward, Kent Madden and Mike Payton.
Boldman acknowledged there are quite a few people seeking the party nomination.
“I do hear there are quite a few people that are vying for the spot, we’re going to put everything we have in it regardless of who’s running and who’s not running, we’re in it to win it,” Boldman said.
Boldman said his involvement with the county government dates back to when he was in high school.
“Back with they were talking about raising the sales tax, I got out of class to be able to go talk about it voicing my opinion,” Boldman said. “I told (Commissioner) Skip (Riffe) when I was in high school, whenever you retire let me know because I’m going to run for your spot, so I’m making good on the promise.”
Earlier this year Scioto County Commissioner Skip Riffe announced he will not be seeking reelection, when his term is up at the end of the year.
Boldman said he plans to hit the ground running with his campaign and more information would be forthcoming.
