Scioto County Habitat for Humanity has joined the H&R Block Nonprofit Referral Program this year in order to raise funds to build a house for a local family.
Anyone who is new to H&R Block or who had their taxes done two years or more previously can get a referral form for Habitat. H&R Block will give a donation to Habitat. It doesn’t cost the client anything.
The humanitarian project helps a family who would not otherwise own a home. The organization is planning to build a new home for a local family in 2014.
“Habitat for Humanity believes that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live,” said Nancy Donini, chair of the Fundraising Committee. “Habitat’s vision is to have a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”
Partner families purchase these houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgage loans or innovative financing methods. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. In part:
· Habitat for Humanity promotes decent, affordable housing for all.
· Habitat for Humanity believes that every person has something to contribute and something to gain from creating communities in which all people have decent, affordable places to live.
· Habitat for Humanity views its work as successful when it transforms lives and promotes positive and lasting social, economic and spiritual change within a community; when it is based on mutual trust and fully shared accomplishment; and when it demonstrates responsible stewardship of all resources entrusted to us.
