Pioneer Garden at Shawnee State Park Nature Center

The Pioneer Garden Project is wrapping up. Our last meeting will be August 15 at the Shawnee State Forest Nature Center at 3pm. Come ready to celebrate everything we have learned.

Storytimes will resume in the fall.

Watercolor Crayon Art

Create a beautiful work of art with crayons and a secret tool! The class will take place August 12 at 4pm and will be located in the Copley room at the main location. Sign up in the Local History Department or call 354-5304. Ages 8-12.

Back to School Craft

Getting ready to head back to school? Join the Youth Services Department as we create some fun crafts designed with school in mind. Join us at the Portsmouth library location Tuesday, August 12th at 6pm.

Back to School Bash

We will be having a back to school program August 13th at 3:30pm. Fun activities and snacks included. Join us at the New Boston library location. Ages 4-12. For more information call 456-4412.

Tween American Girl Party

Children ages 8-12 are invited the South Webster library location August 14 at 4pm for an American Girl party. Participants are invited to bring their dolls and participate in a craft and light refreshments. For more information call 778-2122.

Children Sign Language Basic Class

Ages 5-11 can join us to broaden basic sign language skills in an open and positive environment. Join us at the Portsmouth location , August 15 at 4 pm. It is free of charge but you must sign up in advance by calling 354-5688 ext. 0 or visiting the Reference Desk at the Main library.

Community Garden at the Portsmouth Public Library

The Portsmouth Public Library has started a community garden. Each week we teach classes in the garden and provide hands on experience for anyone interested in learning.

We will also be offering food preservation classes to teach you how to can, freeze and dry what you harvest

Painting Class

The South Webster library location will be hosting a painting class for adults August 12 at 5:30pm. There will be a fee for participation and participants must pre-register. For more information, call 778-2122.

Mystery Book Group

The Mystery Book Group will be meeting at the Portsmouth library location Tuesday, August 12th at 5pm.

Movie Night

Come join us for a fun filled movie night at the New Boston branch August 15th at 3:30pm. We will be showing The other Woman. Adults only. For more information, contact the New Boston Branch Library at (740) 456-4412.

Technology Classes Offered

The Information Technology Department of the Portsmouth Public Library will be offering a variety of computer classes this week. The schedule is as follows.

August 12- Microsoft Word at 1pm and Microsoft Excel at 4pm

August 13- Basic Computers at 1pm

August 14- Windows 8 at 1pm and Computers for Seniors at 3pm
