With construction of a five-mile paving project under way on U.S. Route 23 in Pike County, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 are preparing for the next phase of the project.

Crews from Shelly and Sands, Incorporated are paving 5.25 miles of U.S. 23 from the Pike-Scioto County line to just north of Township Road 603 (Seif Road). Construction also includes paving the interchange ramps to the U.S. Department of Energy/American Centrifuge Facility, as well as repairing the structures over the Norfolk Southern Railroad County Road 84 (Wakefield Mound Road) and over Big Run Creek.

Throughout construction, mainline traffic on U.S. 23 is being maintained in a minimum of one, 12-foot lane in each direction, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall.
