Elks Special Fall and Winter Golf Rates

The Elks Golf Course, located on Ohio Route 73 (just West of the 104/73 split), is repeating the popular Fall and Winter golfing rates according to Dale Hunter, Manager.

Effective Monday, September 21st, to play Donald Ross designed 18 holes of golf with a cart is only $25.00 plus two cans of food.

The food cans will be donated by the Elks to local food banks again this year. Last year, the program provided over 2,500 cans of food to the food banks. This is part of the Elks Lodge "Elks Care, Elks Share" program.

Greenup County Youth Tournament

The Greenup County High School baseball team will be hosting a 5th and 6th grade Boys’ Basketball Tournament December 18th through 23rd at McKell Middle School. The entry fee is $75 per team, double elimination format. First and Second Place teams will receive individual trophies and awards will also be given for the cheerleading competition. Portsmouth Youth Basketball Holiday Tournaments

Portsmouth basketball will be hosting youth basketball tournaments in Portsmouth High School’s old gym. The girls tournaments will be for grades 3-4 and grades 5-6 and will be Dec. 26 and Dec. 27. The boys tournaments will be for grades 3-4 and grades 5-6 and will be held Jan. 2 and Jan. 3. The cost will be $100 per team. Holiday Tournaments

The Portsmouth Youth Basketball will be holding Holiday Tournaments on December 26 and 27 for Girls 3 & 4, 5 & 6. A Tournament will be held on January 2 and 3 for boys 3 & 4, 5 & 6. The cost is $100 per team. For more information call Tim at 935-6886 or Aaron at 357-0212.

Portsmouth West PeeWee Holiday Tournament

West will host a Pee Wee Holiday tournament for boys and girls in grades three through six from Dec. 28 through Jan. 3. The double-elimination tournament cost $100 to enter. To sign up or for more questions call (740) 352-2219.

Portsmouth Season Tickets

Portsmouth High School will be selling season tickets for the 2009-2010 boys and girls varsity basketball season in the high school office during school hours. The season ticket will included a reserved seat at all 11 boys home varsity games and free entry to girls home varsity games as well. Cost is $50 for adults, $30 with a Golden Buckeye Card and $30 for a student winter pass.

Elk Lodge Hoop Shoot

The Portsmouth Elk Lodge is sponsoring the Annual Elks National Hoop Shoot free throw contest. All public and private schools within the jurisdiction of the local Elk lodge are invited to participate. The Elks’ Hoop Shoot free throw contest is open to all boys and girls and there is no entry fee. Hoop Shoot has two Divisions, one for boys and one for girls. Each Division has three age categories of 8-9 years old, 10-11 years old, and 12-13 years old. Age determinations will be the age as of April 1, 2010. Competitors who shoot in the wrong age group will be disqualified. Each Division and age group will have specific a free throw location and basketball requirements.

Competitors must be a winner of their local school contest to participate in the Lodge's Hoop shoot on Dec 13th. The school can provide up to one representative for each division and each age category for a total of six competitors.
