If you ask Gina Collinsworth to explain the programs and services offered through the Counseling Center, be prepared to be amazed. Collinsworth, director of Community Relations for the Counseling Center, along with Occupational Therapist Barb Warnock, were guest speakers at the regular meeting of the Kiwanis Cub of Portsmouth on May 8.

“We believe in all encompassing care, which includes mind, body and soul. And at our new Compass Community Health we believe everyone should have access to quality, affordable health care,” she explained.

Compass Community Health Care Center is a primary care facility that houses doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and referral specialists and is open to the community for healthcare needs.

“We believe in patient-centered healthcare and want to keep our patients connected to health services by balancing a comprehensive, proactive approach focusing on caring for mind, body and soul,” Collinsworth explained.

The new facility offers extended hours, same day and next day appointments, a transportation shuttle for patients who may have trouble getting to their doctor’s appointment at a minimal charge of $1 and coordinated care where outside appointments and information is organized and communicated to patients so they can achieve the best health possible.

Compass Community Health Care Center provides services for family health, women’s health, diagnostic testing, occupational health and medicine, pediatric occupational therapy, pediatric OT sensory gym, workplace wellness and drug free safety programs.

“This is only one piece of the many services we offer under the Counseling Center umbrella. We are focused on increasing the health and wellness of our community at all levels and are dedicated to meeting the needs of our community,” Collinsworth said.

The Kiwanis Club of Portsmouth meets each Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at Oscars in Portsmouth. For more information about the club, visit us on the web at Kiwanisclubofportsmouth.org or like us on facebook at Kiwanis Club of Portsmouth.
