Dr. Terry Johnson was sworn into office as State Representative for the 90th district. The ceremony was held on Monday in Columbus at the Ohio Statehouse.

“Being sworn in today (Monday) was a great honor. This is my second term. My first term went by in the blink of an eye but, we got a lot done during my first term,” Johnson said. “During my first term we got significant work done regarding the opiate epidemic that had plagued our region. We also got a lot done in helping law enforcement fight the drug problems. I was also able to get to know a lot of people that can help us improve things in southern Ohio, our entire region and the state as a whole.”

Johnson said during the upcoming session of the Ohio House of Representatives, he hopes to continue with the successes of his first term.

“We are always trying to get government out of the way of job creation and make sure we are facilitating business so, we can have a positive outlook for growth and opportunities,” Johnson said. “We need to make sure our kids are well educated, we need to make sure the folks that want work can find work. I’m going to do everything in my power, to make sure we move forward in southern Ohio to achieve great things.”

According to www.ohiohouse.gov/terry-johnson, “Representative Johnson graduated from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. Prior to that, he had graduated from Northwest High School and received a bachelor’s degree in history from Ohio University. He retired from the Ohio Army National Guard having achieved the rank of colonel. He most recently served as state surgeon and is a former commander of the National Guard Medical Detachment. A veteran of the Global War on Terror, he has completed three tours of duty.

Aside from having been Scioto County Coroner, Representative Johnson held the position of Director of the Family Practice Residency at Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC). He now works in Portsmouth at the Counseling Center, where he serves as Medical Director.”
