"The last couple of weeks our C wing has been open. It's was a complete remodel of an existing wing which included 13 private rooms, all for short term rehabilitation patients," Scottie Powell Golden Years Admissions Director said.
Powell said construction should be completed in the near future on the addition. He said the anticipated opening should be in February.
"From what I understand we are ahead of the construction schedule. We are very pleased with the way things have gone," Powell said.
"This is not like anything you are seeing in this community right now for this type of service," Powell said.
He said what makes the new and renovated space unique is the services that will be offered.
"We now have a concierge program. Her job is to trouble shoot and basically make people happy. We also have our Wi-Fi cafe, someone could go in there and have coffee with friends and family and get on the internet," Powell said. "We also have our Wii Cinema which will sit between 25 and 30 people where movies and different programming could be done."
"One of the other things that make this unique is that it's completely separate from our long term care unit. This way we can focus on getting our short term patients health and home. While at the same time we can make our long term patients feel like they are at home," Powell said.
Powell said the response to the new and renovated space has been great thus far.
The new facility will include 28 beds as well as 22 private rooms. Other amenities will include a fully equipped physical and occupational therapy gym, a concierge service, a Wi-Fi cafe, cinema and a full service salon.
