The Greater Southern Ohio Tri-State Baseball/Softball sports picnic was held Saturday, Sept. 10 at the American Legion Post 23 in Portsmouth in the shelter house 40/8 outback.

There were approximately 90 in attendance with Howard Newberry being the oldest active member and Shay Meyers being the next oldest to attend the 2011 picnic.

The new Hall of Fame inductees are Barry Vance, Beecher Wright and Donnie Rawlins. The honorary inductees are Harry Stidham, Rick Miller, Robert Queen, Mike Powell and Don Maynard.

The committee would like to thank the American Legion Post 23 for supporting the picnic. Thanks to go Harry Shope and Frank Litteral for the presentation of awards. Thanks to the food group headed by Gary Nyland; and all the volunteers for the hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad and all the trimmings.

The winners of the golf outing at Shawnee Golf Course were Ray Zornes, Ed Carver, Bob Roark, and Rick Book.
