The Vernon Senior Club met on September 5th at the Vernon Senior building on Turkey Foot Road sharing a covered dish dinner brought in by the members. The birthdays of Mary Bocook, James Lawson, Sandra Ramey, Timothy Ramey, Mary Weaver, Mirttie Weaver and Mary Book were celebrated.
The business meeting was brought to order by the president, Don Powell with 27 people present. Gail Alley, who is running for county recorder, spoke to the group and encouraged them to vote on election day. Mary Book, from USSA, was present and gave all of the information from the county. Bonnie Clark gave all the news from the senior headquarters in Portsmouth. Carole Powell read the minutes from the previous month and how finances are going on all of our new projects. Our new restroom is now completed and the new kitchen is almost finished.
The guys are planning to finish up the landscaping where the septic system was put in. Eileen Crawford shared the plans for the Octoberfest, which will be October 13th.
The door prizes were won by Georgia Hall and Delbert Vance.
