Portsmouth Public Library Toy Drive


The Portsmouth Public Library has begun its 12th Annual Toy Drive. The community is asked bring in a new-unwrapped toy to the Local History Department Display Case. Toys can be for a boy or a girl and any age. If the toy requires batteries, you are asked to please provide those with the toy. Toys will be collected until December 17th at which point the Portsmouth Police Department will pick them up and distribute them to area children in need.

Santa Claus is Coming to the Library


You better not pout – you better not cry – I’m tellin’ you why – ‘cause Santa Claus is coming to the Library. Each child will receive a treat along with a picture of themselves with Santa.


At Lucasville- December 10th from 6:00 – 7:00


At South Webster- December 11 from 6-7:30


At Wheelersburg- December 11 from 6-7pm


At Portsmouth- December 11 from 6-7pm


Christmas Storytimes


Children will enjoy this special Holiday Storytime Party with books and songs. After our storytime, we will have some special Christmas themed fun and make a Christmas ornament to take home.

Lego Party


Join the staff of the Portsmouth library location kids’ department December 12 at noon for a Lego Party. There will be contests, games and lots of lego fun. For more information, call 354-5562.


Tail Waggin’ Tutors


At Lucasville-Fridays from 3-5pm and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month


At Wheelersburg-Fridays 3:30-4:30pm

Upcoming Adult/Teen Activities Announced


Adult Painting Class


The New Boston Branch Library will be hosting a 2 hour beginner’s painting class at December 10 at 5:30pm. There will be limited available seating, please stop to pre-register, fee is required at sign-up. For more information, call the New Boston Branch Library at 456-4412.


Yoga


The Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Yoga group at 10am in the Copley Meeting Room on Tuesday, December 11.


Wheelersburg Camera Club


If you enjoy photography or would like to learn more about it you will enjoy this camera club. Beginners are welcome. The meeting will take place at the Wheelersburg branch library December 11 at 6pm (This is an Adult Program.)


Pieces & Patches Quilting


This quilting group that welcomes beginners as well as experienced quilters will be meeting at the Lucasville Branch library December 10 from 6-7:45pm. This program is intended for adults.


Dinner and a Movie


The South Webster Branch Library will be hosting Dinner and a Movie for adults over the age of 18 on December 11 from 5-7:30. Registration is required. Don’t forget to bring a covered dish to share. A full length movie will be shown. For more information, contact the South Webster Branch Library at 778-2122.


Handmade Holiday


In December, the Portsmouth Public Library will host a “Handmade Holiday” craft series to be scheduled every Friday in December at 3:30 at the Main Location.


Patrons who sign up to attend the first program in the series will participate in creating a keepsake picture frame box made from recycled books.


Each Friday after that, a handmade gift will be crafted to add to the keepsake box. Gifts include a jewelry craft, a paint strip holiday bookmark and delicious holiday fudge. Participants may also have their picture taken in the library for the photo frame or insert their own favorite photo.


Patrons who complete all four crafts will be entered in a drawing to win an amazing holiday prize! Please register in advance for this free series by contacting staff at 354-5688 ext. 0


Book Sale Raffle


In December, you could win a beautiful holiday tree made from recycled books. For every item you buy from our book sale, you will be entered into a drawing to win this holiday tree!


December Trivia Contest


All through the month of December, you can participate in our monthly trivia contest. You can pick up a copy of the trivia sheet at the main library or go to our website at yourppl.org to fill it out. All entries need to be turned in by December 31st.


Digital DIY
