Valentine Party

Children 12 and under are invited to the New Boston Branch Library February 11 at 6pm for a Valentine Party. We will have crafts and games. For more information, call the New Boston Library at 456-4412.

Valentine’s Day Craft

On Monday, February 11th the Northwest branch library will be having a Valentine’s Day Craft Program at 6pm. This program is for children of all ages and prior registration is required due to limited space and supplies. For more information or to register call 372-8314.

Racecar Day

Kids can come race at our library track; a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Join us February 16 at noon. Please call 354-5562 for more information.

Girls Book Club

February’s Girls Book Club meeting will take place February 11 at 5:30pm. The book selection for this month is “Pick an American Girl.” This month each girl will chose a different American Girl Character to read about. The girls will then meet to discuss their characters, work on a group project for the craft, and then watch a movie. Come and join the fun! Call 354-5562 for more information.

Family Fun Night

This program offers each generation an opportunity to spend time together in a fun, educational, safe atmosphere. This program will provide a skit, craft, and snack provided by the OSU Extension Office for the children. The theme is “LOVE A GOOD BOOK”. Join us February 12 at 6pm. Board Game Buffet

Children will be able to select from a variety of board games to play with their friends on February 14 from 3-4pm. Games include Scrabble, Candyland, Checkers, Chess, and much more. Ages 6-12 years.

Local Author Showcase

The Portsmouth Public Library is looking for local authors to participate in a Local Author Showcase in April. Participating authors will have the opportunity to promote and sell their books at this event. Due to space limitations, only a small number of authors will be selected to participate. Apply quickly, applications are due March 7. Interested authors may call 354-5688 ext. 10513 for more details.

Book Sale Raffle:

In February, you could win a fun paint swatch mobile made from recycled books. For every item you buy from our book sale, you will be entered into a drawing to win this festive paint swatch mobile.

February Trivia Contest

All through the month of February you can participate in our monthly trivia contest. You can pick up a copy of the trivia sheet at the main library or go to our website at yourppl.org to fill it out. All entries need to be turned in by February 28th.

Yoga

The Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Yoga group at 10am in the Copley Meeting Room on Tuesday, February 12.

Mystery Book Group

the mystery book group will be meeting at the Portsmouth location February 12 at 5pm. We are always looking for more people to join the interesting discussions we have about books.

Eating Smart: Being Active

This nutrition class offered through EFNEP, a division of the OSU Extension, will teach participants how to become more healthy in today’s fast paced world. Classes will be offered Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5pm from February 7- March 28 at the New Boston Library location. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Knitting

The Knitter’s Group will be meeting in the Copley Meeting Room of the Portsmouth library location at 5:30pm on Tuesday, February 12.

TAB Meeting and Mystery Madness

The Portsmouth Public Library’s Teen Advisory Boards will be meeting this week.

Nancy Drew! Sherlock Holmes! Miss Scarlet! Encyclopedia Brown! Dress up as your favorite detective and join us at South Webster as we celebrate mysteries. We will also be discussing Teen Advisory Board events. 3-4:30 PM. Program intended for ages 13-18. For more information, call 778-2122.

-At Portsmouth February 14:

TAB members will meet briefly prior to our Valentine’s Day Mystery to discuss any TAB events. After the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meeting, teens will have the opportunity to help PPL solve a rather unique mystery. 3:00-4:30pm. Grades 6-12. For more information, please call 354-5688 ext. 0

Adult Beginner’s Painting Class

The South Webster Branch Library will be hosting a 2 hour beginner’s painting class at 5:30pm February 12. There will be limited available seating, please stop to pre-register, fee is required at sign-up. For more information, call the South Webster Branch Library at 778-2122.

Camera Club

The Wheelersburg camera club will be meeting February 12 at 6pm at the Wheelersburg Branch library. If you enjoy photography or would like to learn more about it you will enjoy this camera club. Beginners are welcome.

Warm Up America

A group of local knitters will be meeting in the Copley Meeting Room of the Portsmouth library location at 10am on Saturday, Fubruary 16 to make items to be donated to local families in need.

This February marks the tenth anniversary of the ice storm that crippled Scioto County. The Portsmouth Public Library is looking for stories of your experiences with this storm.
