The Portsmouth Public Library system offers many free resources to the community on a daily basis. The Library offers free access to books, dvds, eBooks, magazines and books on cd. Free classes are offered on the following: resume and job searching, basic computer instruction, genealogy, photo editing, eBay, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Programs and storytimes are available for children ages birth to young adult at all library locations and the bookmobile. All of these resources, materials and programs are waiting for you at your local library!
To offer the community even more resources, the Portsmouth Public Library became a member of the Ohio Valley Library Consortium (OVLC) in December 2012. OVLC is a consortium of seven southern Ohio library systems (Portsmouth, Lawrence County, Vinton County, Meigs County, Jackson , Oak Hill and Wellston) merging their separate catalogs into one large catalog. The merge increases the amount of materials available to patrons from 120,000 to approximately 700,000 items.
