Due to the influx of “Baby Boomers” retiring, and limited resources from Congress with our budget, online services are being offered as a viable alternative. Change of address, benefit verifications and many other services are offered online and can be completed 24 hours a day at your convenience. All Social Security Administration offices are open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Wednesday —- excluding federal holidays. Locally appointments can be made in some cases as soon as the next day or up to one month in advance. The local office does not have appointments on Fridays, but is open for phone and walk in traffic on that day.

Locally walk in traffic has increased dramatically as “baby boomers” are aging. In 2004 (the first year for Baby Boomers to begin retiring) the local office had 17,728 visitors. Last year the local office serviced 40,159 individuals. The most people seen in the local office during one day has been 312.

All doctors and medical providers can now submit records to us electronically. This speeds up the time it takes us to process a disability claim, it is more secure and convenient, costs less, and is more environmentally friendly than paper folders.
