Shawnee State University Outreach Services will be offering a conference for child care providers and early childhood educators on Friday, April 5 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.


“Fabulous Friday” will feature a keynote speaker and numerous sessions for participants to learn about various aspects of child care and early childhood education careers.


Wright State University Professor of Early Childhood Education William Mosier, Ph.D. will be the keynote speaker at the conference. Mosier holds numerous titles and is the author of two books as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters.


After the keynote speech, participants will attend one or two sessions from a selection of morning lectures, including “Math is Easy, Right?” and “Open the Doors to Let the Outside In,” along with several others.


Lunch and the presentation of the 2013 “Friend of Children” Award will follow. After lunch, further sessions will be offered before wrapping up at 3:30.


The “Friend of Children” Award recognizes outstanding contributions to a program or community by advancing the cause of and making a difference in the lives of children and families. Nominations for the award must be sent to The Dr. Miller and Genevieve Toombs Children’s Learning Center by March 20.


Registration can be completed in person, by completing the registration form and returning it to the University Outreach Services located in the basement of Massie Hall, Room 52 or by mail, by completing the registration form and mailing it with your check, credit card information, or purchase order to Shawnee State University, University Outreach Services, 940 Second Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.

The conference is sponsored by the SSU Department of Teacher Education, Dr. Miller and Genevieve Toombs Children’s Learning Center, State Support Team Region 15, and University Outreach Services.
