SEOIAAA Awards Scholarships
The Southeast Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators’ Association
(SEOIAAA) has awarded four $500.00 scholarships this year. This year’s
recipients include Ben Arnold (Wheelersburg), Alexandra McFarland
(Peebles), Jessica Monroe (East), and Sydney Stapleton (Oak Hill).
Ben Arnold is the son of Mark (AD at Clay) and Kitty Rose of Wheelersburg
and Nathan and Mary Arnold of Coolville. Ben is a 2013 graduate of
Wheelersburg HS. He was a member of the National Honor Society, golf team,
and baseball team. He plans to attend Ohio University to major in
Biological Sciences; he was also selected as the SEOIAAA representative for
the OIAAA scholarships.
Alexandra McFarland is the daughter of Doug (AD at Western) and Kimberly
McFarland of Peebles. Alexandra is a 2013 graduate of Peebles HS. She was
a member of the Beta Club and participated in basketball, softball, golf,
and volleyball during her high school years. She plans to pursue a degree
in physical therapy.
Jessica Monroe is the daughter of Adam (AD at East) and Angie Bailey of
Portsmouth. She is the 2013 valedictorian of East High School. She was a
member of basketball, softball, and volleyball teams; and she was a
National Honor Society member. She plans to attend Shawnee State
University to pursue a degree in athletic training.
Sydney Stapleton is the daughter of Donnie (AD at Glenwood) and Laura
Stapleton of Oak Hill. She is a 2013 graduate of Oak Hill HS. She was a
member of the National Honor Society. Her other activities included
softball, band, science and drama clubs, yearbook, and volleyball. She
plans to attend the University of Findlay to major in pre-veterinary
The SEOIAAA is a professional organization for Ohio athletic administrators
in the Southeast District. Each year the association presents a $500
scholarship to a member’s son or daughter who plans to further his/her
education after high school. These students are also then eligible for
state-wide scholarships through the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic
Administrators’ Association (OIAAA).
